The Design Development Assistant will work directly with the Director of Product Design/Development to develop and execute new product. From developing design intent to drafting technical shop drawings, you will be a part of every step, and oftentimes own part of the process. This is a dynamic role that requires flexibility in your day to day responsibilities.
Sometimes you’ll be pushing CAD around in Solidworks, sometimes you’ll work on re-engineering of furniture frames through CAD, sometimes you’ll work hands on with production to problem solve, sometimes you’ll work with the design team to design, sometimes you’ll network to find new vendors, sometimes you’ll develop new fabrication techniques and then find the right company to make it happen, and then sometimes you’ll just sit in front of a computer and send emails (hey, it’s just a part of it). In short, you’ll be presented with opportunities to seek great outcomes.
